AMG Vanadium

AMG Vanadium is the largest producer of ferrovanadium in North America and has been operating at its Cambridge, Ohio facility since 1952. AMG Vanadium has processed over 350,000 tons of spent resid catalyst since 2003 when spent catalyst became its primary feedstock. Through its environmentally beneficial conversion of waste products into valuable end products, AMG Vanadium provides an important solution and cradle-to-grave risk mitigation for refinery partners and waste generators, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 80% compared to a primary mining and processing operation.

AMG Vanadium has doubled its capacity for spent resid catalyst processing in the U.S. from approximately 30,000 to 60,000 tons annually. The new facility in Zanesville, Ohio started operating in October 2022 and serves as the initial design basis for AMG’s second Supercenter project in Saudi Arabia.

SARBV, the Shell AMG Recycling joint venture together with UCI, the United Company for Industry, continues to advance the first project of the Supercenter in conjunction with Aramco. Plant design optimization, site selection and permitting activities are underway. SARBV and UCI signed an agreement with Hatch in November 2022 to perform basic engineering for the initial phase of the Supercenter where vanadium concentrate from the Jazan Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle Plant, licensed by Shell, will be processed to produce high-purity vanadium pentoxide.

The SARBV-UCI-Aramco consortium is also developing a pipeline of projects which will conclude with the deployment of AMG’s Lithium Vanadium (“LIVA”) Hybrid Energy Storage System technology. AMG’s innovative LIVA battery for industrial power management applications has successfully started up at AMG’s plant in Hauzenberg, Germany, paving the way for several other projects under development.
